SAN PEDRO, LAGUNA (July 3, 2026) — The Sea Mariners program officially expanded its fleet into the province of Laguna yesterday, July 2, 2026, with the historic commissioning, charter agreement signing, and oath-taking ceremony of Sea Mariners Ship 106 – San Pedro Relocation Center National High School (SPRCNHS). Held directly at the SPRCNHS campus, the event marks the establishment of the very first Sea Mariners Ship in the City of San Pedro, anchoring the program’s maritime advocacy in the city’s largest public educational institution, which boasts a student population of more than 6,000 learners.

The commissioning ceremony officially activates Ship 106 under the Sea Mariners’ unique ship-based youth governance structure. During the event, 54 newly inducted Sea Mariners took their solemn oath of office, pledging to uphold the program’s core tenets of honor, integrity, discipline, and environmental stewardship.

The ceremony was spearheaded by Sea Mariners program leadership, including National Training Supervisor Hex Brizuela and National Training Associate Crystal Lopez, alongside school administrators and faculty who will serve as Ship Advisers to guide the student crew.

“Commissioning Ship 106 at SPRCNHS is a monumental milestone for the Sea Mariners program as we chart new territories in Laguna,” said Hex Brizuela, National Training Supervisor. “By introducing our maritime competency and leadership framework to the largest school in San Pedro, we are opening doors for thousands of young Filipinos to discover rewarding global pathways. These 54 brave pioneering mariners are not just students anymore—they are now a disciplined crew equipped to become positive role models for their community and the future stewards of our nation’s maritime heritage.”

“As the pioneering crew of Ship 106, we accept the immense responsibility of charting this new course for SPRCNHS,” stated Vince Davon Malaggay, the newly inducted Master Captain of Ship 106. “Taking our oath and learning the foundational values of maritime discipline today is just the beginning. We are eager to steer our Ship toward excellence, foster teamwork among our peers, and prove that the youth of San Pedro are ready to lead both on land and at sea.”

Following their formal induction, the 54 Sea Mariners immediately commenced their operational integration by undergoing intensive training in basic naval drills, ceremonies, and formation maneuvers. The specialized training was facilitated in partnership with personnel from Coast Guard Station Laguna and led by AUX CAPT Ariston Yvan Pagulayan PCGA, the former Director of the Auxiliary Squadron of the PCGA 108th Squadron, who served as the day’s Drill Master.

The hands-on instruction covered fundamental unit maneuvers at the element, squad, and division levels, as well as strict protocols for rendering salutes and executing colors. This training directly aligns with the Minimum Capability Standards (MCS) mandated by the Sea Mariners National Training Directorate to ensure all newly established ships build a foundation of naval courtesy and operational discipline within their first months.

With the signing of the official Ship Charter by the student officers and faculty coordinators, Ship 106 is now fully authorized to deploy the Sea Mariners Masterclass modules, environmental conservation campaigns, and career mentorship initiatives designed to prepare high school students for successful seafaring and civil service pathways.
