In a powerful demonstration that distance is no barrier to humanitarian aid, the RSE Foundation partnered with the University of St. La Salle (USLS) BALAYAN to provide critical relief to families devastated by the recent flash floods in Northern Negros.

The disaster, triggered by the relentless rains of Tropical Storm Ada on January 31, 2026, displaced more than 5,000 families across the region. In the hardest-hit areas of Toboso and Sagay City, floodwaters reached chest-deep, destroying homes, livelihoods, and essential properties.

Mobilizing immediate support, RSE Foundation donated P100,000 to the USLS BALAYAN. This contribution enabled the organization to organize two major relief missions on February 26 and March 4, directly benefiting 200 families in Barangay Magticol (Toboso) and Barangays Fabrica and Paraiso (Sagay City).

“We are committed to helping disaster-affected communities across the country by partnering with trusted local organizations like USLS BALAYAN. This collaborative approach allows us to provide help as soon as possible, ensuring that our support is delivered directly to those who need it most, regardless of where they are in the country,” said Capt. Ronald Enrile, Executive Director of RSE Foundation.

Each family was provided with a relief pack consisting of 5kg of premium rice and six assorted canned goods. These essential provisions were designed to sustain families while in evacuation centers and serve as a vital starter supply to support them as they return to their communities.

Teresita G. Barcoma, Director of USLS BALAYAN, emphasized the severity of the situation that the communities faced. “The rapid onset of the flash flood was devastating. In some areas, water rose so rapidly that families lost everything in a matter of hours. The damage to properties and the psychological toll on the 5,000 evacuated families is overwhelming,” Barcoma stated. “We are deeply grateful for the trust RSE Foundation placed in us. Their generosity provided more than just food; it brought comfort and a sense of hope to the displaced families.”
