ATHENS, Greece — The Philippine maritime sector was highlighted at the 2nd Philippine Maritime Forum held on May 29 in Piraeus, Greece, where PTC’s Karen Avelino represented PTC Inc. and PAMTCI as part of the official Philippine delegation. Her participation underscored PTC’s commitment to strengthening global maritime cooperation and advancing the Philippines’ role in the international shipping industry.

The forum brought together key stakeholders from the Philippines and Greece, focusing on maritime development, investment opportunities, shipping finance, education, and the strategic contribution of Filipino seafarers worldwide. Discussions emphasized deepening collaboration and expanding opportunities across the maritime sector.

A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and the Hellenic-ASEAN Business Council, strengthening cooperation in maritime development, capacity building, investment promotion, and policy dialogue between both countries.

The Philippine Embassy in Greece, led by H.E. Ambassador Giovanni E. Palec, was also recognized for its leadership and support in advancing Philippine maritime interests and fostering stronger bilateral relations.

Karen Avelino’s participation reflects PTC’s active engagement in international maritime dialogue and its continued advocacy for partnerships that benefit Filipino maritime professionals and strengthen the country’s global maritime presence.
