On May 28, 2026, the PTC Talent Acquisition Group (TAG) paid a courtesy call to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office, National Capital Region (OWWA RWO NCR), marking the beginning of a meaningful collaboration focused on enhancing engagement and support for Filipino seafarers. The PTC TAG team was met by OWWA NCR Regional Director Ma. Teresa B. Capa and OWWA Seafarers’ Welfare Center Head Ma. Luisa D. Jarigue, underscoring the shared commitment of both organizations to the welfare and professional development of the country’s maritime workforce.

As part of the celebration of this year’s Day of the Seafarer, PTC TAG will hold the Officers’ Helm II: A Dockside Dialogue on June 18, 2026, at the OWWA Seafarers Welfare Center in Monarch Parksuites, Aseana City, Paranaque. This event is a gathering of a select group of seafarer officers that aims to provide a platform for meaningful conversations, knowledge sharing, and professional networking within the maritime community.

The first Officers’ Helm was held at the FMP Building in 2026 and was attended by PTC and non-PTC seafarers who participated in the learning sessions designed to empower and educate both current and future maritime professionals.

Through this initiative, invited seafarers will be able to visit the OWWA Seafarers Welfare Center, a dedicated facility envisioned as a hub for welfare, support, and community engagement. Regional Director Capa expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership and its potential to create a lasting positive impact on the seafaring community. She likewise conveyed her appreciation to the PTC team for its proactive efforts and unwavering support of initiatives that promote seafarers’ welfare and well-being.

As Filipino seafarers continue to play an indispensable role in global trade and the movement of people and goods across the world, initiatives like The Officers’ Helm serve as important reminders of the value of listening to, supporting, and celebrating the men and women who keep the world moving.
