PTC is proud to announce a landmark achievement in the province of Laguna. San Pedro Relocation Center National High School (SPRCNHS), officially commissioned as Sea Mariners Ship 106, has become the first educational institution in the entire province to receive official authorization to offer the specialized Tech-Pro Maritime Senior High School (SHS) Track.

This milestone marks a significant evolution for SPRCNHS, a school already esteemed for its technical-vocational excellence. By integrating the Sea Mariners program as its operational backbone, Ship 106 is transforming traditional maritime education into an immersive, ship-based leadership experience. This partnership ensures that students are not merely studying a curriculum but are being forged into future leaders of the global maritime fleet.

Ms. Mary Patriccia Camu, Ship Adviser for Ship 106, views the program as a vital link between the classroom and the high seas. “The Sea Mariners program serves as the bridge that connects our students’ academic journey to the professional realities of the maritime industry,” says Ms. Camu. “At SPRCNHS, we don’t just teach seamanship; we instill the ‘Salt and Steel’ discipline necessary for command. Our students have transitioned from being learners to becoming crew members, training with the mindset and rigor required for an international career.”

The success of Ship 106 is built on a foundation of proven results. Since 2025, the Sea Mariners program has successfully paved the way for numerous graduates to proceed directly into local and international maritime careers. These pioneer Sea Mariners are now serving as cadets and deck trainees aboard various vessels owned by PTC’s global principals, effectively bridging the gap between Philippine secondary education and the international shipping industry.

These gains reflect the broader successes of the program, which has evolved from a maritime awareness initiative into a robust professional pipeline. By standardizing training and providing STCW-aligned work immersions, Sea Mariners has seen a marked increase in students successfully passing maritime academy entrance exams and securing early-career placements. The program’s unique Ship-Based Governance Model ensures that by the time students reach the 12th grade, they possess the administrative discipline and technical foundation expected of junior officers.

Hector Brizuela, National Training Supervisor for Sea Mariners, emphasizes the long-term impact of this training. “Our goal is to standardize excellence across the fleet so that our graduates are immediately recognizable for their competence and character,” Brizuela explains. “Ship 106 is a prime example of how we can empower local students to become global maritime professionals who are not just ready for college, but ready for the world.”

Through specialized pathways in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, and Maritime Culinary, the Sea Mariners program assists Ship 106 in delivering a curriculum that meets international standards such as SOLAS and MARPOL. As the program continues its 2026 expansion, the National Training Directorate remains dedicated to producing graduates who are college-ready, industry-ready, and global-ready, ensuring that the Filipino youth remain the preferred choice for the global maritime industry.
