The PTC Sea Mariners program, the flagship youth initiative of Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTCI), was recently recognized by partner schools in Pampanga and Laguna for its contributions to maritime education and youth development.

On February 26, Santo Rosario National High School (Pampanga) and San Pedro Relocation Center National High School (Laguna) awarded the program Plaques of Recognition, affirming its role in bridging basic education and the global maritime industry.

Pristine Chloe Balmaceda, National Training Associate, accepted the Pampanga award, noting that since launching there in 2023, the goal has been to inspire students to pursue maritime careers. In Laguna, where the program began in 2024, National Training Supervisor Hector Brizuela cited strong student enthusiasm and school support in shaping future Filipino seafarers.

A Growing Maritime Movement

Established in 2013, Sea Mariners sparks interest in maritime careers by organizing schools into “Ships” and students into “Sea Mariners,” promoting youth leadership, maritime awareness, and environmental stewardship. Now active in 12 schools across Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Iloilo, Pampanga, and Laguna, the program is set to expand to Bicol and Negros Occidental.

Through initiatives such as the Sea Mariners Masterclass, STCW-aligned work immersion, Maritime Entrance Exam Review Sessions (MEERS), and marine conservation activities, the program provides end-to-end guidance—helping Filipino youth navigate their path toward becoming global maritime professionals.
