The PTC Cruise Division recently hosted graduating BS Tourism students from Far Eastern University (FEU) for a half-day learning session on careers in the cruise industry, offering insights into life at sea and post-graduation opportunities.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. John Paul Soto, Jr., Head of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment Operations and Deputy Head of the Cruise Industry Business, encouraged students to maximize the session and gain practical knowledge for their future careers.

Mr. Joey Yambao, Operations Manager, provided an overview of cruise operations and highlighted the benefits of joining the industry, including career growth, travel opportunities, competitive pay, and exposure to diverse cultures. Ms. Lyndel Imbang, Crewing Manager, explained the recruitment and screening process, required documents, and what employers look for—giving students a clear roadmap from classroom to shipboard employment. Mr. Ernie Concepcion shared personal insights on succeeding at sea, emphasizing the importance of a positive and professional attitude in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Students also toured PHILCAMSAT, where they learned about completing mandatory Basic Training (BT) required for shipboard work.

Closing the session, JP underscored the value of integrity, reminding students that while skills can be learned, reputation and trust must be built early.

 Through initiatives like this, facilitated by the PTC Talent Acquisition Group, students gain direct access to industry leaders and a clearer vision of how to pursue meaningful careers in the cruise industry.
